Praised by critics for her powerful stage presence and the radiant vitality of her interpretations, pianist Citlalli Guevara has established herself as one of the most prominent Mexican pianists of her generation. Her career has taken her to perform in Mexico, the United States, Spain, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Cuba, Canada, France, Belgium, Taiwan, and China, captivating audiences with performances that combine virtuosity, sensitivity, and artistic charisma.
As a soloist, she has appeared with some of the most renowned orchestras of the continent, including the Xalapa Symphony Orchestra, the State of Mexico Symphony Orchestra, the Guayaquil Philharmonic, the Mallorca Chamber Orchestra, the Guanajuato Symphony, the Nuevo León Symphony, the Chamber Orchestra of Bellas Artes, and the Aguascalientes Symphony, under the baton of conductors such as Enrique Bátiz, José Luis Castillo, David Harutyunyan, Lior Shambadal, Mario Matéus, and Lanfranco Marcelletti. She has also performed at some of the most prestigious festivals on the international scene, including the Festival Internacional Cervantino (Mexico), the Palm Beach International Piano Festival (USA), the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra Festival, and the Bucaramanga International Piano Festival (Colombia).
Citlalli’s album on Centaur Records, “Midnight Conversations” with pianist Slavina Zhelezova, was described as a “brilliant performance that’s lots of rollicking fun” (American Record Guide). As part of the Guevara & Zhelezova Piano Duo, she has toured in Mexico, China, the United States, Uruguay, and Colombia, and performed with the Symphony Orchestras of Zacatecas and Guanajuato.
She recently completed a highly successful tour of 11 concerts across major theaters and concert halls in China. In the current season, Citlalli will perform at the Teatro Mayor (Colombia), the Sofia International Music Weeks (Bulgaria), the UIS International Piano Festival (Colombia), Conciertos del Este (Uruguay), Festival Internacional de Clàssica de Mallorca (Spain), and the UNAM International Piano Festival (Mexico), in addition to solo appearances with the Guayaquil Symphony, the Cuenca Symphony, and the National Symphony of Ecuador.
Citlalli Guevara earned her Master’s degree in Piano Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in New York, studying under the renowned Russian pianist Nina Svetlanova. She completed her bachelors at the Universidad Veracruzana with Laura Sosa and was a scholarship recipient of the International Certificate for Piano Artists (ICPA) in Brussels, working with Philippe Entremont and Nelson Delle Vigne Fabbri. Her artistic development has been further enriched through masterclasses with world-class pianists such as Oleg Maisenberg, Michel Béroff, Jean-Philippe Collard, Jorge Luis Prats, Pascal Rogé, and Jorge Federico Osorio.
